The Archaeological State Museum of Baden-Württemberg (ALM BW) operates as a decentralized network comprising a main museum, a central artifact archive, and seven branch museums across the state. For the Große Landesausstellung 2024 in Stuttgart, a dedicated landing page was needed to communicate both the character of the exhibition and all essential visitor information in a clear, visually engaging way.

As in-house Digital Manager for User Experience at the main museum in Constance, I developed the initial concept and structure for the landing page. Building on the architectural foundations and UX principles developed for the ALM BW web platform, I was able to rapidly prototype a tailored microsite that still aligned with the broader digital ecosystem of the museum network.

The page includes a mini digital collection curated specifically for this exhibition. It presents selected highlight objects with rich media and concise narratives to spark curiosity and deepen interest. Because research in the field of museum visitor behavior shows that such digital previews do not replace physical visits—but can actually encourage them. Studies from platforms like Google Arts & Culture, as well as museums using AR-enhanced apps, have shown that virtual engagement increases the desire to experience objects on-site. A survey by Axiell also found that institutions with strong digital offerings often see a measurable rise in in-person attendance.

While several interface modules from the main museum platform were reused to ensure consistency and efficiency, the project allowed for a stronger focus on visual design. The landing page was envisioned to work cohesively across digital, print, and exhibition environments. Although the visual design concept I developed was not adopted due to a parallel collaboration with a globally renowned advertising agency, I remained responsible for the technical realization. I led the coordination with an external development agency and oversaw the delivery of a stable and responsive live product.
